The group consisted of ex <strong>Bakersfield Rebels<\/strong> guitarist-singer <strong>Jeff Blackburn<\/strong> &amp; ex <strong>Sherry Snow &amp; Geronimo<\/strong> vocalist <strong>Sherry Snow<\/strong> who became romantically involved in 1965, living together in Berkeley, California and performing in local clubs.They signed up in Dec 1965 with <strong>Kingston Trio<\/strong> producer <strong>Frank Werber&#8217;s<\/strong> \u2018Trident\u2019 and put out <strong>Samuel F. Omar<\/strong> (pseudonym <strong>David Crosby<\/strong>) &#8220;Stranger in a Strange Land&#8221;. <strong>Snow <\/strong>was considered by friends in <strong>Jefferson Airplane<\/strong> as the replacement for departing <strong>Signe Anderson<\/strong> in late 1966, however she chose to remain with <strong>Blackburn.<\/strong> The duo contributed to the San Francisco Sound, performing throughout 1965\u201367 at venues such as the \u2018Fillmore Auditorium\u2019, \u2018Avalon Ballroom\u2019 and <strong>Marty Balin&#8217;s<\/strong> nightclub \u2018The Matrix\u2019. <strong>Blackburn &amp; Snow<\/strong> performed at the \u2018KFRC Fantasy Fair\u2019 \u2018and \u2018Magic Mountain Music Festival\u2019, a seminal festival in Marin County, California at the beginning of the Summer of Love.<\/p>\n<p>In 1966 and into the spring of 1967 the duet released an album of folk rock songs similar to <strong>Jefferson <\/strong>with unique harmonic interplay between the couple. Highlights included the sensational \u201cTaking It Easy\u201d, finely harmonised \u201cDo You Realise\u201d and soulful \u201cSome Days I Feel Your Loving\u201d influenced by <strong>The Everly Brothers<\/strong> and <strong>Beatles.<\/strong> <strong>Blackburn &amp; Snow<\/strong> recorded a number of rock songs, backed by <strong>Candy Store Prophets<\/strong> initially the backing for <strong>The Monkees<\/strong> first album which included <strong>Larry Taylor<\/strong> of <strong>Canned Heat<\/strong> and future <strong>Ventures Gerry McGee<\/strong>. drummer <strong>Gary &#8220;Chicken&#8221;\u00a0Hirsh<\/strong>, later of <strong>Country Joe &amp; the Fish<\/strong>) Following a romantic breakup in 1967, <strong>Snow<\/strong> joined <strong>Dan Hicks &amp; his Hot Licks<\/strong> as a singer. (She later emerged as <strong>Halimah Collingwood<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>Blackburn joined <strong>Moby Grape<\/strong> in the mid-seventies; with <strong>Bob Mosley<\/strong> and later formed the <strong>Jeff Blackburn Band<\/strong> which with the addition of <strong>Neil Young<\/strong> and <strong>Johnny Craviotto<\/strong> became <strong>The Ducks<\/strong>, playing a series of impromptu bar gigs in Santa Cruz, California in 1977. During this time, <strong>Blackburn<\/strong> co-wrote \u201cMy My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)\u201d with <strong>Young<\/strong>. <strong>Blackburn <\/strong>continues to perform, based in Santa Cruz with <strong>Buck N the Odds<\/strong>.
