In the same dripping ink regalia as <strong>Peter Sarstedt<\/strong>, <strong>Garrie<\/strong> is the hippie busker that you may be lucky enough to encounter the way I did on a winters morning in Portobello Road. Nick\u2019s psychedelic debut \u201cQueen Of Spades\u201d in 1968 quickly resigned to the angelic \u201cCambridge Town\u201d,\u00a0not quite <strong>Dylan\u2019<\/strong>s \u201cOxford Town\u201d but closer to <strong>Pentangle<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Cruel Sister<\/em> songbook. Admired by poets like <strong>Leonard Cohen<\/strong> whom he supported on numerous occasions has recently surfaced to great appeal in France and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Nick\u2019s \u201cSuitcase Man\u201d featured\u00a0ex <strong>Sweet Thursday \/ Cat Stevens<\/strong>\u00a0guitarist <strong>Alun Davies<\/strong>\u00a0,\u00a0the album, peaking at #1 in Spain. <strong>Garrie\u2019s<\/strong> \u201cLove In My Eyes\u201d co-written with <strong>Francis Lai<\/strong> backed by a Parisian String Quartet spread its seduction as far as Japan, but this was not the esoteric \u201cEvening\u201d or acoustic solace that caressed the intrinsic \u201cDeeper Tones Of Blue\u201d, a ballad that blew its Spring breezes through the rolling hills of the Basque. Garrie is a household name in Catalonia North of Spain thanks to the artistic endevours of a Radio show called \u2018Trilogy Rock\u2019 as they evangelize the <strong>Magna Carta<\/strong> styled \u201cSeashore\u201d.
